Preparing for the High Holidays

With the Jewish New Year rapidly approaching I thought it would be a good idea to make some suggestions in this space for links for help in the spiritual preparation for the season. The high holidays are a time to reflect on the year past, and to try to understand what we can do to make our lives more enriching in the coming year. It's a time to evaluate what's going on in the world around us, see the values that are threatened, and gain insight and motivation to try to make a positive difference.

One theme that has been debated in the Jewish community this year is the future of the Israel-American Jewish community relationship. These essays published by the AJC provide excellent insight.

Blowing the shofar is one of the most inspiring rituals associated with the new year. Watch this video for an amazing rendition:
